Delhi College of Art Entrance Exam Preparation

DELHI COLLEGE OF ART 
College of Art is an Institution established in 1942 for advanced training in Visual Art, creative and applied, leading to the Bachelor of Fine Art Course and Postgraduate course of Master in Fine Art. Under the arts department of the Delhi College of Engineering now the Delhi Technological University (DTU), it is a premier art college for advanced training in Visual Art i.e. Creative and Applied Art, under the Faculty of Music & Fine Art, University of Delhi, and run by Government of NCT Delhi. It is situated on Tilak Marg, New Delhi.

Courses offered:
The college offers courses both at graduate and postgraduate levels. It offers courses in most mediums of Visual Art, both Creative and Applied Art. This includes Master of Fine Art (MFA, a post-graduation course of two year in duration) in Applied Art, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Visual Communication and Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA, an undergraduate course with 4 years duration) in Applied Art, Art History, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Visual Communication. It imparts training in art techniques with emphasis on studio practicals, outdoor practicals, prescribed theory subjects and research in selected fields.

APTITUDE TEST: The Aptitude Test will consist of the following papers:-

OBJECT DRAWING: (for all the Specializations except Art History)

Drawing of objects with light and shade showing background and foreground in pencil on ½ imperial size paper.

FOR ART HISTORY SPECIALIZATION ONLY : Students have to identify and write their views on three Visuals on art, artists, period etc.


GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: (for all the specializations)
Subjective and Objective type questions related to Art, Personalities, Events & Current Affairs (Written Paper in Hindi or English )

COMPOSITION FOR APPLIED ART SPECIALIZATION
Illustration from memory on a given subject in water color, tempera, ink or oil pastels on ¼ imperial size paper

FOR ART HISTORY SPECIALIZATION
Students have to write an analysis/premise on a topic to be given at the time of the Examination in about 800 words in either English or Hindi-

FOR PAINTING SPECIALIZATION
Students would be asked to paint from memory on a given subject in water color tempera, ink or oil pastels on ¼ imperial size paper.


FOR PRINT MAKING SPECIALIZATION

Students would be asked to paint from memory on a given subject in water color tempera, ink or pastels on ¼ imperial size paper.

FOR SCULPTURE SPECIALIZATION
Students would be asked to create a model from memory in clay on a given subject. 

FOR VISUAL COMMUNICATION SPECIALIZATION
This is a test in Design to asses concept, application, ability in using line, color and space in the visualization on a subject to be given at the time of the Examination, in tempera, ink or oil pastels on ¼ imperial size paper.
